You always manage to pull off a certain level of “chic-yet-effortless”, both in your designs and your own personal style. How did you translate that signature look into your fall 2014 collection?
RT: For fall we wanted to use unexpected pairings of colors, techniques, and fabrics. For example, we mixed crepe and jersey to create the Stacy Top, which is both a weekend and a weekday staple. I love how the White Noise Dress is a “throw on and go” option—the combo of chiffon and silk gives it an uncomplicated charm.
Plus, you can wear the combo pieces separately! Our Jersey and Lace Tee is an update to your basic everyday tee shirt. The lace detailing gives it an elevated feel. I love the idea of effortless chic. The Short Sleeve Lynx Top paired back with a pair of boyfriend jeans is my go to for a casual day at the office. The print is soft, feminine and easy. For the chilly weekend nights I always tend to find myself pulling out my Long Sleeve Chain Sweatshirt. I like to layer this back to a plaid oxford and jeans.
What tips do you have for busy, stylish women when it comes to versatile day-to-night dressing?
RT: Pick something you really love and feel comfortable in. The Dotty Dress is a good balance between feminine and demure; the mesh lace sleeve adds a touch of sheerness while still being appropriate. The embellished Georgette Top can be worn layered for day with a blazer or cardi, and then by itself for dinner or a date.
For the businesswoman, our Tweed and Leather Shift Dress is a perfect staple black dress that can be worn to the office and then out to happy hour paired with a statement bag and heels.
If I can give one piece of advice for the fall season, it would be to keep it simple and chic. I’m loving the idea of the Sleeveless Tweed Ponte Dress with Lace, this piece is a great mixture of texture and femininity---and can go from day to night!
My favorite things about fall are…
RT: Outerwear and sweaters! I love the idea of an oversized knit such as a long sleeve v-neck color block pullover paired with a textured skirt like our Textured Flounce Skirt.
Prints are also a must. One of my favorites is our Leopard Peacoat. I love a good animal print and this coat also embodies a menswear silhouette, which is another look I am crazed over for fall.
Neutral pallets are another essential, and should be incorporated every woman’s closet for the season. The Sleeveless V-neck Crepe Top in Pumice is a great layering piece which can be worn with a jacket, chunky cardigan or even alone paired with a skinny jean and boots.
